Thank you for the DD!

The Key of Cthulhu.

Sealed in a sunken crumbling temple in a primordial jungle bordering two warring, desperate lands, the Key of Cthulhu has been discovered and brought to the light of day. It's bronze skin is slick and weathered by the countless years of futile caressing by blind and feeble-minded worshipers. The dark alien stone of its pedestal bears the wear of millennia of dripping onyxian stalactites and the crawling of obscene, alien insects.

A lone surviving member of Joyner Studio's first expedition was found clutching this very same idol in his pale bloodless hands, blind and gibbering in an exotic dead language, "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn".

A new expedition has been commissioned by Joyner Studio to retrace the old teams fateful route into the primitive jungle and recover the remaining idols.

The Key of Cthulhu by ~LeeJoyner A fabulous sculpture of the malevolent entity, "Cthulhu" of H.P. Lovecraft fame; a being the author described as "...an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head ...". This artist has succeeded admirably in his rendition of this infamous character. ( Suggested by !sweetychan and Featured by `LabyrinthCreations )

Quite an intriguing piece. Wonderfully made.

However, to quote from one of the few records of the Lewisson Oceanographic Expedition of 1931 regarding the keys recovered from an unnamed sunken ruin south of Australia:
"It sure was an odd little thing, beautifully made, yet grotesque in form. I have examined one many times since then, and know it well. There had been some slight differences among some of those things, but they were more alike than different.
About two inches long, made of solid, lustrous metal, it had something like an octopus resting on top of an irregular crystal shape, with a pair of bat-like wings closed up behind it, the clawed tips of the wings touching. On the crystal-shaped part were several oddly curved glyphs along with several tiny spheres. The entire thing was made of gold except for the eyes of the octopus, which showed a red glint in our helmet lights."
